Objective: To examine the incidence, success rate and foetal outcomes of induction of labour.
Methods: A complete one year retrospective data were collected from hospital data base. The women undergone induction with various medical inducing agents from 28 weeks onwards with single tone pregnancy without severe PIH, eclampsia APH, foetal distress and anomalies were included in the study.
Results: Total numbers of deliveries registered was 1398. Out of them normal deliveries were 598 and C-sections were 800. The induction of labour accounts for 198 nos. The incidence rate was 12.01% .success rate of induction with vaginal delivery was 54.1%.The most common drug used was vaginal misoprostol (77.97%). The common indication was post-dated pregnancy and fetal complication mostly appeared was fetal distress (25%). The parity was significantly associated with mode of delivery and gestational week with complications.
Conclusion: Induction of labour is a choice for treating labour for most of the obstetrician in case of post dated pregnancy, oligohydramnios and failure to progress or in a slowed labour. As observe, though inducing agent mostly vaginal misoprostol is associated with meconeum stained liquor but it has advantages of accelerating cervical dilatation and uterine contractions with one or repeated doses. Health care professionals must remain awared of its' adverse effects and their immediate management.
- Correlation between Organizational Stress and Job Satisfaction among Registered Nurses in Selected Hospital

The high stress level resulting from employee intra-organizational and extra-organizational interactions is a serious problem in reducing satisfaction and motivation level. Keeping in mind and for retaining excellent nurses and stimulating them to do their best to serve hospitals and take on future challenges in today's environment, the investigator is motivated for this study to investigate how organisational role stress among nurses could affect their job satisfaction. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the present study. The study was conducted in selected private hospital of Bhubaneswar. A structural modified organizational stress scale which was modified form of organizational role stress scale and another job satisfaction survey scale were used to find out the correlation between organizational role stress and job satisfaction. The sample size consists of 50 registered staff nurses of selected hospital and samples were selected by simple random sampling technique. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics.
The study findings demonstrated that the rank order of factors of organizational role stress were personal inadequacy having 1st rank, role strength was ranked 2nd, role isolation ranked 3rd and role extension conflict was having 10th rank. The study also revealed that 28% of subjects were not satisfied at all with their job and 72% were satisfied with their job.
Level of education and role overload were extremely statistically significant where (χ2 =13.4, DF=1 and two tailed P value equals to 0.0003). The association between setting of work and role extension conflict was considered to be very statistically significant where (χ2 =15.2, DF=4 and two tailed P value equals to 0.0043). It was also observed that the correlation between organizational role stress and the level of job satisfaction was considered to be statistically significant in which (r = - 0.34, DF=48 and two tailed P value equals to 0.0157).
The research hypothesis was formulated after analysis. The findings of the study may help to increase nurses' job satisfaction and encourage them to stay at their work. This would avoid the vicious circle of high turnover which is wasteful of the organization's valuable human resources.

This paper highlights findings from a literature search to examine the impact of work related stress on burnout among I.C.U nurses and the review further focused on whether their perception change during the working period and the impact of working area preferences. Unless nurses perceptions are changed regarding work related stress they may affect the output of service. Implicaions for relieving job related stress include orientation to physical in frastcture ,policies and protocols ,in-service education, conselling schedules ,good remuneration etc. that foster the retention of nurses where there is growing need of qualified nurses and prevent burn out among nurses. More research is needed to determine the effectiveness of coping strategies into stress inoculation programmes. These programmes give persons preparatory information to enable them to increase their tolerance for subsequent threatening events. Stress inoculation should be included in nursing curricular and staff development programmes. However to avoid 'blaming the victim', the nurse who succumbs to burnout because of overwhelming environmental stressors, stress inoculation should be coupled with organizational strategies to promote positive working conditions. Also research is needed to determine the value of guidelines for stress management programme and stress management modules when to be implemented and their effectiveness for I.C.U registered nurses to prevent and control the burnout. It is essential for the management is to listen the concern of nurses, provide flexible scheduling, adequate staffing levels as well as appropriate rewards and recognition. Stress management programme should be incorporated into the curriculum of neophytes by nursing training institutions with the aim of empowering them with coping resources as they enter the nursing profession so that the percentage of burnout can be reduced to a greater extent.- Perceived Stress and its Association with Selected Factors among Nursing Students in a Baccalaureate Programme

Currently society is experiencing a severe nursing shortage. This shortage is projected to worsen in the next decade and could seriously affect the nation's health care. It is imperative that the nursing profession is able to recruit and retain qualified nurses. This must begin with the educational process and college of nursing must recruit the graduate students of high quality that are ready to meet the challenges and demand of the profession. High perceived stress level and lack of effective coping skill could present a barrier to this goal. Descriptive survey approach and cross-sectional design was undertaken for the above study. The study was conducted in selected nursing college of Bhubaneswar. A modified structured Nurses stress rating scale was prepared for data collection. The sample selected for the study were 100 B.sc nursing students, among them 50 students were junior B.sc nursing students and 50 students were senior B.sc nursing students who met the inclusion criteria using simple random sampling technique. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics.
The study findings demonstrated that among five areas of perceived stress the highly rated perceived stressful areas were physical stress having rank 1st and Spiritual stress having rank 2nd, psychological stress having rank 3rd, economical stress in rank 4th and sociocultural stress in rank 5th. It was also observed that there is a significant association between the intensity of perceived stressors and sex of the nursing students at (chi square (2) = 3.841, P<0.05). The research hypothesis was formulated after analysis. The findings of the study may help to recognize the perceived stressors and their association with other factors. Accordingly plan the activities to reduce stress in nursing students.
